"Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4:12
There are churches with small groups and there are churches of small groups. We at Heritage church are committed to being a church of small
groups. We believe Christian flourishing takes place within the context
of community. Just as a hand cannot live and flourish separate from he
body, so individual believers only flourish as they are connected to
Jesus through relationship within the local church. We believe our Life
Groups provide a unique opportunity to find community. We eat together.
We share our lives. We study God's word.
Life Groups meet throughout the week at various times. Some meet for lunch on Sunday after service, others Sunday evening, and others still meet throughout the week at various times. We believe everyone at Heritage should, when possible, be involved in a Life Group. Ideally, our groups will be comprised of 12 to 18 teenagers and adults (most groups also have children attending) that meet bi-weekly for the purpose of encouraging one another to love and follow Jesus. Our groups tend to eat food with one another. Some share finger food while other groups go all out with a full meal. Heritage Life Groups are a great way to connect relationally, find community where life-long relationships can be built. We are convinced that encouraging one another in the faith is integral to living the Christian life.
We believe a big way discipleship takes place is through significant human relationship. Following Jesus is much more than knowing about Jesus and his teachings. Discipleship involves helping others apply God's word to all areas of life, both personally in addition to every believer learning to multiply disciple-makers. We believe Life Groups provide a significant relational space within which we may challenge one another to follow Jesus. Feel free to contact us with any question you might have regarding our small group ministry here at Heritage Church.
